when I started this journal, I made it pure friends online. You can make it so all your entries ( from now on) are friends only even if it says public on your entry. It will be only 'public' to all your friends list.
Go to Account --> Viewing Options--> additional privacy
You can set a default for your journal. Its nifty. So you dont have to worry about each journal being set to friends or no! :D
It really set my mind at ease since just before I closed my last journal, my ex's wife had been reading any public entries I made for gods knows how long! So yeah..friends only all the way!
