Possible Good News
Happy Belated Lammas, all & one!
I may have some very good news here soon - my bondage to the Excalibur might be over. I may have earned enough 'contribution hours' to have become vested in the Teamsters w/out even knowing it.
One little bird says it's 500 contributable hours per year (and I've got 640 so far - my year started March 14), but the other little bird says it's 2000 (basically 50 weeks)... I've got to get in touch w/someone at the Union to actually clear things up. Which is next to impossible.
Anyway, it would be so very cool if I was no longer beholden to the Hotel o' Hell. I could actually go forth & look for more profitable and enjoyable employment w/out losing that 5 years. It would also make working at the Ex more enjoyable because it's no longer 'just holding out for my vestment', it then becomes my ball game. And w/Pam threatening to make me go out front for relief lead training, I want the ball in my court. Because I could just QUIT!!! Just call Rob from work, right about when dateroll is supposed to happen, tell him to bring my uniforms down, turn them in w/my badge & sign my resignation form. It is soooooo tempting.
I've never really screwed over an employer like that before. It's always been the 2-week notice. Except for the macadamia nut place - but I was allergic to the damned nuts. What else was I supposed to do - work for 2 more weeks til my skin sloughed off into the roaster? Some school-kid's fund-raiser customer would have ended up w/an interesting pair of gloves in their macadamia nut clusters.
