Flawed Genetic Code

Ah yes... Just one more thing to look forward to as I age... My back is hideously deformed & will likely get worse. Adult-onset scoliosis. I've got this lovely curve to my spine - only instead of curving inward towards my gut like a spine's supposed to do, it's turning and curving towards my left hip. It explains why I feel like my left side is lower than my right - it is. Terry's got it, too, but hers showed up when she was a teenager. Of course, she uses it like some kind of emotional club whenever someone else complains about something, especially Jody. Jody's physical condition will never compare w/Terry's because 'Well, I've got scoliosis and I still live without pain-killers or surgery!'

Granted, mine is very mild - but intensely painful right now becuase I've got a compressed disk & a pinched nerve. The reason it feels like I'm going to puke every time someone touches me there (including myself) is because the area is where all the vagus nerves split off from the spine, as well as the sciatic. So it's pretty traumatized. 10 years ago when I first started going through chiropractic work it wasn't there... But like most things, I've ignored my back for a few years now, just dealing w/the pain like everything else that hurts. Which means I just don't deal with it. I'm like, 'Eh, everyone has lower back pain'. It can never be 'fixed', but I just don't want it to get worse. Whenever I think 'scoliosis' I think about the people whose shoulders are hunched downward & their bodies contort into a scrunched-up 'C' shape. Or where the curvature is outwards & their ass is slowly meeting their shoulders. The chiropractor, who is a cheerful guy, says to me, "Wait til you see this amazing curve in your spine! I've never seen anything like it!" like it's some kind of anatomical artwork. Well, maybe I have just become far more interesting to the BodyWorlds ninjas who will come to collect me.
