Weird Things I've Put In My Mouth Recently
1) Altoid's Dark Chocolate Covered Ginger Mints. They are definitely the weirdest thing I've ever put in my mouth. You have the typical chalky, powerful Altoids mint, with a curiously strong ginger flavor... covered in a dark chocolate coating. I didn't know whether to suck the chocolate off first & then let the Altoid dissolve in my mouth, or if I should crunch the whole thing up... or what I ended up doing, which was rolling the thing around in my mouth til the chocolate got soft enough where I could scrape it off the mint & then crunched the mint itself up. It's got some good, gingery heat to it, but I think I wouldv'e enjoyed it more if it had been a ginger gummy thing.
2) Starbuck's Pomegranate Frappucino. There's been this magazine floating around the front desk, something like The MGM-Mirage Lifestyle magazine. Basically it's a multi-paged ad published by MGM for its higher end hotels. Anyway, flipping through this, the dark red, tall, whipped-cream topped beverage caught my eye. I tried to get one last night around 1am, but the Ex's Starbuck's was closed. So when I left this morning, I stopped & got one for 'breakfast'. It's green tea, mint & pomegranate juice. Now, to me, green tea tasts like dirt. Green tea ice cream is okay, but all other types of green tea preparations taste like dirt. I was expecting this deep cup of dark, burgundy frozen beverage. Instead, I got a wee small cup of pink frozen foam that tasted like dirt someone had dropped a pomegranate into. I was at least hoping for maybe full pomegranate color & flavor w/a dirt finish. It was definitely earthy... the dirt flavor of the green tea overwhelmed the pomegranate juice, and the whole thing just tasted kind of flat & watered down.
