Another Spidery Life Saved
Last night I saved yet another spider - this one was tiny & tan & spastic. It had been running around Rob's bathroom most of yesterday - it kept landing in the most inconvenient places, like right in front of Rob's toilet, or running under the bath mat he has in front of his sink. I scooped it up on a piece of paper & took it out to the garage - I put the paper against the wall & blew gently to encourage the spider to leave the paper & move to the wall. Instead it ran off the edge of the paper & up the backside. So I flipped the paper over & repeated trying to move the spider, and it ran off the edge & back up the underside again. After playing 'How To Amuse An Idiot' for about five minutes, I gave up & put the paper on the ground.
I don't know why Rob's bathroom is so tantalizing to arachnids - he's got two more in there - one hiding under his cabinet & another in the corner next to his bathtub. That particular corner has been more or less continually occupied by a long-legged spider since we've been in the house. My bathroom, on the other hand, has no insect or arachnid occupation whatsoever.

I have heaps of jumping spiders on my ceiling at the moment...and baby huntsmen everywhere!
Ack!
I do have to admit, jumping spiders are cute in a creepy-ugly kind of way. From what I can tell on google & such, Australian wolf spiders are about the same as American ones - big, hairy, various shades of brown, kind of stripey.
