Trying to find something to take to work on Sunday night for our Shift-Bid Potluck. One vegetarian, the rest of us meat-eaters, someone's bringing an Italian casserole called taglerini. Josh is bringing Tabasco popcorn. (Men, geez.) Alea's (the vegetarian) is bringing some red beans & rice, to which I want to respond w/collard greens.

Went to Mandalay Bay's Shark Reef w/2 stoned co-workers last night. We had more fun than we should have. The big draw for me was the hammerhead shark. The display that the big sharks are in is like a sunken ship - they even play creaking noises overhead. The tank gives the illusion that you're actually out on the ocean floor - vast distances spread out in front of you, & the water's surprisingly dim & murky. The sharks appear out of the depths like ghosts & cruise past the display windows... blue & silver eyes marking the tourists pressed to the glass. I love sharks. They look right at you & really "see" you. And they are so curious about everything around them. They investigate everything, inspect everything. They're at the top of the evolutionary scale in their own rights, veritably unchanged for millions of years. Kind of like horseshoe crabs. 450 million years & the ones we see today look like the fossilized ones. Amazing.
