It's weird... dealing w/this sinus infection that has gone horribly awry, I've lost my sense of smell. I literally can't even smell shit. Last night (since the antibiotics have upset my stomach beyond all reasonable means) as I was coming out of the restroom, I sprayed some of the horrible potpourri air freshener the hotel keeps around... Kelly was coming out of the front desk & asked "Did you make a stinky?" I replied, "I dunno - could you take a whiff & tell me? It might smell like oatmeal cookies for all I can tell." She made the cat-like 'disgust face', called me weird & waddled off down the hallway.

So anyway, I am reduced to the four most basic tastes - sweet, salty, sour & bitter. Coffee w/milk & sugar is merely sweet, black coffee, merely bitter. Hot 'n spicy teriyaki sauce - other than the burning sensation on the tongue, is sweet & salty. Chicken, on the other hand, only has texture. Sort of a weird, flaky, rubbery texture. Chicken, without other flavorings, doesn't taste like anything. It's sort of like tofu. Yogurt is just sweet & sour... and actually tasted pretty good w/out the yogurt flavor backing it up. Tomato soup - sweet, salty... with black pepper for a bite. A lot of things don't really taste like anything at all. I use my nose a lot - it helps alert me when certain people are walking down the hallway at work. I can't tell if the milk is still good, or if the meat I had in the EDR was safe, or the cottage cheese, for that matter. I might have food poisoning & that's really why my stomach's upset & not the antibiotics at all. I have no idea, tho...

I am incredibly grateful to the Universe that the infection has moved down into my chest. I can handle a cough a heck of a lot better that having my sinuses stopped up. I hate not being able to breathe through my nose. Even having just one side stopped up & the other free is a blessing.

Jeff was kind & gave me an extra off tonight. I slept for about 10 hrs., free from Rob-like interruptions. I think the Delta wave CD is actually helping, and I did feel a heck of a lot better when I finally did wake up. I was even able to get up halfway through, go to the bathroom & go back to bed & fall back asleep - which is almost unheard of for me.
