We have a small green alien living inside the security screen door... It's been hanging out there for about a week now & I've had the courtesy to set a wet sponge out there for it. I can't tell if it's a he-alien or a she-alien, and it has no mate so I can't witness any cannibalism to say for sure one way or another. About twice a day Rob or I open the front door to make sure it's still out there. It just sort of watches us w/its big, buggy eyes. Sometimes if I mess around too close to it, it'll wave its front legs at me.
Preying mantises are very cool, though, and quite lucky :)
Got off work a little early this morning, about 5:30am. Went outside & it was still dark, & almost cool.
Something on the roof of one of the Excalibur's towers caught fire last night. Set fire to the top floor. The sprinklers put it out before the fire department even got there, but they evacuated most of the guests & quite a bit of the staff - we all work under that particular tower. The sprinklers flooded the emergency stairwell, though, which lets out into the first floor - so half of the first floor got flooded, too. When I came in, everyone was asking me if the fire trucks were still out there & I wondered if I should have even come into the front desk area at all... I answered phones for guest services to help them w/the influx of alarmed customers calling, and fate had it where I didn't answer a single call from an irate guest.
I'm starting to wonder about my impending English class - the book is 'The Writing Process', so I'm beginning to think that it's going to be mostly composition. I have been, and still am, having a very hard time w/writing anything. Total writer's block. Can't even spew out any decent porn to send to my one remaining prison pen-pal. The dread of this class is building, slowly but surely. Even worse, there's a lot of emphasis on collaborative projects and giving your class-mates' work feedback & critique... This is an online course, (its one saving grace), and I really don't want to have to e-mail all my class-mates for their phone numbers & try to arrange meetings or phone conferences to brainstorm & crap like that. Especially considering the fact that in an Eng 101 class, the majority of my online class mates will probably be just out of high school or in their early 20's... Why couldn't the class that used the 'College English for Dummies' book had an opening?
Going to the GP today to beg for a muscle relaxant or pain killer for my back - so of course, my back really hasn't bothered me since my adjustment on Monday. Traitorous back!
