It's What's for Breakfast
Oct. 3rd, 2005 07:51 amDoughnuts, Cheetos & decaf. Yum. Almost as good as cold pizza & warm beer.
Oh, and some pain killers. I'm starting to wonder if I'm trying to pass the monolithic kidney stone I have...
I made a colossal mistake about 6 weeks ago (August 15, to be exact) - I updated our worksheet & transposed two boxes. Since we in the night audit department are creatures of habit (and mostly run on auto-pilot) neither I nor Alea noticed the mistake. In fact, no one noticed it. Not Jeff or Brad, who check the FODR... none of the assistant managers, the new VP of Hotel Operations, the Marketing Dept., the Sales Dept., managerial auditing, F/B... no one. Until like, September 29. Some room reservations person was looking at the numbers & asked themselves, "Why is this number so much bigger than that number? That's not right..." So Saturday night I clocked 4 hrs. of OT while Alea did the audit for me so I could correct all of September's work... last night I got a whole 5 days of August done. People wouldn't leave me alone. I kept getting interrupted. And I just kept getting ruder & nastier, too, but it didn't stop anyone from harassing me - they just went away feeling butt-hurt.
I know what started the whole chain of events, though - I made plans. This week, I was supposed to fully update my training manual so I could start training someone else next week. I also planned on taking a few hours of downtime & running over the test for my accounting class.
The minute a plan popped into my head, Coyote laughed.
