A commercial was on t.v. earlier - one I haven't seen before. I instantly recognize the game being advertised as yet another Final Fantasy. The weird thing is that I knew it was FFXII. Even though I haven't seen anything about FFXI, my subconscious was aware that after than FFX2 they had put out one more game... What's more bizarre is that I haven't played a FF game since FF Tactics - which is still a cool game and one I play on & off when I can have some quality time w/the PS2. I remember watching Lisa struggle thru the first couple of FF's & thinking that it was waaaay too complicated for me to ever get the hang of. Now, playing Warcraft, I've got not one, but 4 bars of hotkeys & random other buttons on my kb assigned to sundry tasks. Rob programmed a video game controller to handle most of his functions - he can't understand how I can type so fast, I don't understand how he can remember what button does what. I can't believe I've actually played this game for a year and I haven't gotten bored or completely frustrated with it, ala Asheron's 'How Many More of These Drudgers Do I Have to Kill Before I Level Again?" Call.
I'm seriously jonesing for the WoW expansion to come out... I managed to put a pre-order in for the Collector's Edition. The Collector's Editions of the first WoW are currently selling on amazon.com for about $199. Rob says if he doesn't like my Netherworld Whelpling pet, we'll take his unopened CE & shelve it for a few months & resell it for 4X as much - and I'm hip to that.
I've been seeing ads for a new game called 'Ryzom Ring'. It looks interesting - supposedly the users program the game & everything is customizable, but I don't know... the ads look awesome. I can't download the game trailers for some unknown reason : ( I really don't need to enter yet another online universe that will suck my brain out. At least, until they finally release Diablo III...
Rob & I went to the newly opened Popeye's Chicken here on Jones & Vegas. Good stuff, good stuff. They have a 'popcorn' crawfish special right now - the crawfish were tender, but kind of overwhelmed by the spicy batter. They offered a chicken & sausage jambalaya - looked appetizing, but we played it safe for our first visit. Rob got the Cajun fries & a chicken sandwich. The pecan pie was quite tasty & beats the hell outta McDonald's apple pies any day. I used to go to the one in the mall in Metairie & you could get some surprisingly good crawfish etouffe. Fast food etouffe... hooo-ee!
