This morning I encountered a pepper so hot I couldn't eat it. I put half of it in my mouth and the pain was so immediate and punishing that my brain stopped. My lungs seized up. I felt my heart lurch to a halt. I had conflicting urges - one to chew and swallow the pepper so I could just die & get it over with, the other to get up and run around the EDR in a blind panic. My mouth went numb but was still strangely in immense pain. I finally gathered the resolve (and neuro-muscular coordination) to grab a napkin & spit the infernal thing out. I don't know what kind of pepper it was, only that it was green & roasted, and it had looked really good laying there in melted cheese and rice. It was obviously manifested somewhere in the nethermost regions of Hel and placed in a tray of enchiladas to await an unsuspecting victim - and here I thought maybe it was a stuffed pepper, full of cheesy ricy goodness.

Puttng things off...
Aug. 5th, 2007 09:38 amI guess what I've been avoiding saying is ... I feel it today. I walked out of work & into a summer morning breeze that was full of the promise of winter's death. The light looked like late afternoon, slanting through the trees in the parking lot.
It's just a few days past Lughnasadh & already Sol fades. It happens so quickly - one moment it's Midsummer and brutal heat, and then within six weeks there's that undertone in the air.
Time is all we really have.
