Violin or Guitar... Choices, Choices
Sep. 21st, 2008 05:32 pmLet's see...
Today I completed all the Gadgetzan quests once again & have headed out to the Hinterlands. I'm just trying to get my huntard to a 55 before WotLK comes out. It's slated for mid-November, so I've got a little under 2 months to get those last 8 levels. Yesterday was pretty much wasted on Brewfest drunkenness & buying wolpertingers.
We cleaned the snake tanks & I bathed the snakes. Nessie hates the water w/a passion, Ed just lays in the tub til it gets cold. While he was enjoying his soak, I finished reading the 2nd History of Rock chapter, which was mostly about Elvis. I just don't like Elvis. Never have, never really will grow to appreciate his voice, musical stylings or impact on rock & roll. I can honestly say I hate Elvis, and I'm not a huge fan of the Beatles, either & that's where the class is headed next. The Grateful Dead & the Beatles. Ugh.
And I've done laundry. Yay. I have this huge heap of clothes piled on my ironing board & every weekend I am bound & determined to iron them before the work week ensues, and every weekend they pile a little higher. I don't even know why I have hangers because all my clothes are in a heap on the ironing board.
I also looked into the class catalog at CSN & I can take guitar or violin lessons through the college. That was something else I didn't get a rountuit for - going to music stores. But, basically a 4-month span is like, $275 for private violin lessons or $180 for a guitar class. So the violin breaks down to $91 a month & the guitar is about $45 a month. What I need to do is compare some lesson prices out there in the real world w/those of CSN & see which is the better choice. I'm not looking to become a maestra, just proficient. It's been so long since I've picked up anything other than a frame drum... I don't think I remember how to read music anymore, and I definitely have forgotten all the chords & notes on the guitar. When I was living w/Aunt Liz, all the sheet music & song books came out of my allowance, scraped from the band teacher at school & my guitar teacher during lessons. At least now, teh internets is my friend - free music as far as the mouse can click.
Reading music is all about math, and strangely, it was the only math I was ever any good with. It used to be instinctive, and I could keep the beat fairly well... Now it's all just circles and lines. Of course, a metronome is always a good thing to have around, so that's something I'd need to pick up as well.
