The Ultimate LJ Meme
Oct. 2nd, 2008 12:08 pmOk, so maybe it's not so ultimate. But I stole it from Australia, so it is well-traveled.
First things first, how long have you kept a Livejournal, and why did you begin it? – Wow, I’ve had this journal since July of 2003. According to my first post, I was trying to ‘reawaken my creativity and imagination’. I don’t think it’s worked, but it has kept me writing. I’ve also tossed around the notion of leaving something to myself for my reincarnation, but it seems like I never get around to telling myself the big things about life.
Have you stuck to one journal or had many? How many journals do you currently use? – I’ve had two sideline journals – one was for strictly Pagan & witchcraft things, which I deleted, & I started another one –
coyotesgarden – for herbs and Tarot. It’s been un-updated for awhile, but I probably won’t be deleting to it any time soon.
The reason behind your Username(s): Perzephone is an homage to Persephone, the Greek Goddess of the Underworld, Spring and herbs… I feel it’s disrespectful to take the exact name of a deity, so I spell it with a ‘z’ because z’s are sexy. I also use it in WoW & as an online screen-name for sexy things.
How often are you on LJ, and how long do you spend on the site when you log in? I usually log on maybe once to catch up on my Friends, and sporadically throughout the work day to ramble on while I’m supposed to be working.
What does your activity on LJ most consist of?
Reading, commenting & writing. I also surf for quizzes. And memes. Yeah, I’m a quiz & meme junkie.
What are some of your favorite aspects of Livejournal?
Well, it encourages me to write, even if it’s just about mundane crap because someone might read it. I’ve also met some fantastic people – which is why I don’t restrict my journal to ‘friends only’. It’s the only place online that I seriously socialize. I also like knowing that there are bigger whack-jobs out there than myself.
Some of your least favorite aspects?
I’m not a big enough programmer-computer-geek to come up with an original layout for my page. I know that lj is supposed to be customizable, but I’m just not good enough to figure out how.
Have you ever had an LJ "secret"? Pleh, no. Whatever I post I post for the world to see, except for work-related things. Due to where I work now, those posts are strictly friends-only, except for generalized I-hate-my-job kind of whining that won’t necessarily reflect badly upon my workplace.
THE FRIENDS LIST:
Have you met a fellow LJer? Who, where, and why did you meet?
As far as I know, I only know one of my lj friends IRL – Lisa - we met many years ago (in 10th grade) at school
Which five LJers would you most like to meet (those you have not had the pleasure of meeting)
A certain Sunflower, and those who live in her garden
griinar, who doesn’t get the opportunity to post often, but fascinates me to no end
greenforest_elf because she is the jinkiest!
moonvoice because she is teh wowsome!
qelgoth, in full accordance with the Prophecy. No, not that prophecy, t’other one!
Describe your favorite type of posts to read:
The ones where I can’t tell if the person is posting something they honestly believe in or if they’re playing some kind of online LARP.
The posts that you generally skip or skim:
Music reviews, slash fiction, and anything that looks like it’s crossing over into yiffdom or furry-land.
Which 5 journals do you enjoy reading most?
There’s always the Sunflower, and those that live with her & for her
greenforest_elf because she goes on these politically activist rants and I’m all gooshy for that.
moonvoice because she is an artist and is always true to herself
qelgoth - he’s the reason I still lurk on myspace.
gwyll - because she has like, the coolest job in Vegas.
This is the part of the survey where we get to be HONEST.
Are there certain friends that you never or very rarely read?
Nope, I’m a Constant Reader to all my friends
Anyone on your friends' list whose posts annoy you, or you otherwise just don't gel with?
No, because if someone annoys the crap outta me, I don’t put them on my flist
Anyone who is so fabulous you worship them from afar?
All of you, really. You’re awesome, every single one of you. You may not realize it, but you keep me thinking.
Is your very best friend on LJ?
One of ‘em is.
Have you ever kept a real-life secret from your LJ friends (such as a relationship, a child, a job, etc)?
Nope. There’s stuff I don’t talk about much, but it’s not exactly secretive stuff, it’s just stuff I’m not talking about.
THE COMMENTING:
How important is it to you to receive comments on your posts? How important do you think it should be for yourself and others?
I like to know people are reading my endless mundanity, but if it’s not interesting I don’t get butt-hurt when people don’t comment.
What is your personal guideline for removing people who never (or rarely) comment on your journal? How much time should pass with one-sided or non-existent interaction?
If it seems like it’s an abandoned journal, I’ll usually remove people from my flist, but it has more to do w/whether or not they post than whether or not they comment.
THE END:
In general, what is the impression you hope others receive of yourself through your journal?
I’m probably a waste of a human life, but I might as well do stuff to stay busy while I’m here.
What is your overall attitude toward your own journal?
See the answer above.
In a nutshell, why do you keep an LJ? How has it enriched your life?
I’ve gotten to know some incredible people from far-off places and some closer to home. People I’ll probably never meet outside the internet, but they still hold places in my heart & mind.
Last question ganked fromMoonvoice : What kind of livejournal posts do you like the most? What do you wish I'd post more of?
