Chelsie's Day Out
Jan. 11th, 2009 06:17 pmChelsie got to go to the dog park for the first time today. We only spent about an hour out there. She met four other dogs - a big German shepherd, a boxer puppy, a shepherd mix and some little black thing - looked like a black short-haired spitz or something. Chelsie was remarkably well-behaved. I expected her to just take off once we let her off the leash - she ran & sniffed & investigated but kept coming back to us. When the other dogs approached she was very respectful. She didn't chase the littler dogs along their fence (the park has two sections - one for small dogs & puppies under 25lbs & the other for bigger dogs), she didn't bark or growl at anyone. When I brought the leash out she came right back over to me & sat down so I could put it on her, too.
It was pretty relieving. I expected it to be more crowded, honestly - it was beautiful out there this afternoon. I think we'll probably be going back. I've got a live class on Saturdays, so we'll probably head to the park after my class ends. We tuckered her out, too - she came home, went outside & peed & has been snoozing on the couch since.
