Why on earth do we want to create yet more people? Aren't the Duggars and Goselins and Catholics and quiver-fulls of the world doing enough to ensure that the human species will continue to expand?
I mean, c'mon. Even after the earthquake, there's still like, 9 million people packed into the tiny nation of Haiti. 127 million are squeezed into Japan. 1.3 billion spread across China. 300 million Americans. Globally, there's about 6.7 billion people.
6.7 billion people. 6,700,000,000 people. That's a lot of freaking people.
Do we really need more ways to multiply? 80% of the earth's population already live in poverty. What could creating even more people possibly do for that 80% other than use more of our dwindling resources? Not to mention the expense of cloning. Cloning a human, based on an article by Forbes, would cost approx. $100,000 US. Having children naturally is at least cheap - sperm, eggs and people willing to put 'em both together are obviously quite plentiful. Two teenagers in the back seat of a car is what, maybe $20 for the drive-in movie & $10 worth of gas? Throw in $8 for a six-pack of cheap beer if she's playing hard to get?
