After reading an article about the Mary Sue Complex, all of my story about the stranded selkie just sort of went kerflooey. Seems like no matter what I write, the main character would be a Mary Sue. Either that, or the complete opposite of the Mary Sue, which would be the Oh, Jeez, Trying Too Hard to Not Make the Character a Mary Sue, which I think I find somewhat worse in the long run.

I am considering moving forward with an education of some sorts, maybe a journalism degree. I'd like to know how to write more gooder, lol. Or at least know the difference between bad writing and good writing. I've almost got one absolutely useless degree, may as well go for more student loan debt.

Got the last check from the DA's office - which included unpaid vacation & sick time on it. It was a first for me. I've never gotten compensation like that. Paid off all the medical bills, so I once again own my left kidney and what remains of my brain. It felt good to put all those bills in the outgoing mail slot.

The wind has it in for me. Sneezing my head off. Had really bad airport delays - one lady I checked in had been stuck at the Ontario airport for almost 3 hours because they'd tried landing here & couldn't. She said when they finally did make it down, the plane had a pretty good load of puke on the floor. People were crying, screaming & praying because of all the turbulence. I would have disembarked at Ontario & just rented a car & driven here. Fuck being stuck on the Vominator. At least there's no malice in this wind, not like the last storm we had. We were nicely busy all night, which means I don't think about how much my feet hurt.

Annnnddddd... I got a prepaid cell phone the other day. I put a certain person's phone number in it and called him on my first break. Elton sounds almost exactly like he did in high school. He gave me a rundown of his work history & I was like, "Uh, you don't need to submit your resume to me, man" (for the record, he's a martial arts instructor & gives guitar lessons on the side. He's also probably selling his ass to desperate housewives, but hey, a guy's gotta make the rent somehow, living in Long Beach & shit). I was surrounded by my oh-so-helpful coworkers so I couldn't understand the majority of the conversation (the phone has great reception - my Sprint cell never had bars behind the front desk - this thing not only had bars, it was fucking clear, but my coworkers are LOUD. I'm like, you go Net10, the rest of you shut the Hel up!) It was good to talk to him, if only briefly. I may very well call him again some time.
