Sweet rain in the desert. There's nothing quite like waking up to the sound of distant thunder, the kind that rattles the windows and feels sort of like an earthquake. The rumbling... And the rain, love the rain. Went outside w/the water vessel for my altar, collected all of about 1/8th of an inch of water. Ahh. My soul breathes it in, tho, like some sweet incense. I burned sage in thanks, now my house is all rain & sage scented. I have always loved the smell of wet pavement, (especially mingled w/diesel exhaust - my dad was a trucker, we lived in Washington, it's an incredibly comforting sort of smell.) and out here where I'm at, I not only get the scent of rain & wet pavement, but also the desert itself. I can feel it saying, "Ahhhh" like some great whale song of sand and stone.
