Gonna Do It

I spoke with the actual surgeon today. He went over some of my options for the future - as in greater damage, bad arthritis or a total knee replacement. The outer wall of the cyst on my thigh bone is very thin - there's a fracture there already & if I fall again or bang it badly enough, it could cave in, which would be a bad thing. So... sometime at the end of March or beginning of April, I'm going for surgery. It's an out-patient procedure, so there's no hospital stay unless something goes horribly awry. So no trip to WA for us - instead I'll be relearning to use crutches for a month or so. I used to be able to dance on crutches, beat people up with 'em - you can get proficient given enough time. But I can't put any weight whatsoever on that leg for at least 4 weeks, mainly because the spot being repaired is a weight-bearing section. The cost as of right now is unknown, but I've got 3 weeks of vacation time so I'm not really going to be losing any work. I'll probably go apeshit - 3 weeks stuck in the house & unable to clean anything. Just sitting here with my leg elevated, all I'll have to do is schoolwork & Warcraft. For 3 long weeks. Rob having to do the laundry & catering to my every need... while I sit here for 3 whole weeks...
Surgery's not all bad ;)
