Re: Post-Op Recovery
Aug. 6th, 2003 12:31 amToday isn't so bad. Taking my antibiotics, rinsing w/salt water, trying not to eat anything w/sharp corners. The last part is kind of hard, because I really want some corn chips & salsa. Have all day. Tough, chewy meat is also not on the menu. So I have had dolmades, spanakopita & tomato soup. Yesterday all I ate was a bowl of broccoli cheese soup. I really have to slow down to chew though, so I'm getting full appreciation for taste & texture. I forgot & bummed a pork rind off my sister & ended up having to let it melt in my mouth. Melting in the mouth is ok for chocolate, but for pork rinds it's more than a little disgusting.
Watched "From Hell" this afternoon - Johnny Depp as a detective investigating Jack the Ripper. After all I've seen & read of ol' Jack, I have come to a pretty firm conclusion that homey was a resurrection man. I've got to eventually pick up Patricia Cornwell's book on him, tho. She's a good writer as far as crime novels go. Love me some Kay Scarpetta.
Last night the after-effects of the anaesthesia left more than just my tooth socket open & gooshy. Rob was surrounded by this nice little rosy fog & I could feel my heart chakra just radiating outwards & downwards til I had to take advantage of him. Quite nice. I love certain drugs & the affects they have on me. Of course, I slept restlessly once I did go to bed. Weird dreams, hearing & seeing things moving around, all the subconscious stuff drifting too near the surface. At one point I woke up feeling wet & the hole where my tooth was had started bleeding again. I looked like a vampire - pale, hollow-eyed, w/two rivulets of dark red blood running from the corners of my mouth. Not the kind of thing you want to see in the mirror when a bad leftover anaethesia dream wakes you up. Today I'm just sleepy. This is bad - going to bed at midnight, waking up in the a.m., knowing that I work nights & I am waaaaay off my schedule. Thursday is gonna hurt.
