Kublachoo Khan

Tried the Kubla Khan sample last night. It's a very heady, complex scent. Probably the most perfume-like of the samples I obtained. It went on strong, faded down a bit... and at about 3am, I started to taste it. Then the frontal lobe/eyemask headache started, my sinuses swelled up, and blammo - allergy attack. Accompanied by nausea because for me, frontal lobe headache = nausea.
So I came home & took a shower, and now I smell like a skunk brushed up against me. Yum. It's actually preferable to the melange of smells that was Kubla Khan, because at least skunk is basic lemony musk. Something I tried the other day w/musk in it smelled like old curry body odor. I thought my deodorant had given up the ghost but I could still smell my deodorant & it smelled clean. I also didn't put any of the oils in my armpits & it was my inner elbows that had BO.
According to Black Phoenix, these are the notes in Kubla:
roses unfurl amidst dancing waves of serpentine opium smoke and amber tobacco, golden sandalwood, champaca, tea leaf, sugared lily, ginger, rich hay absolute, leather, dark vanilla, mandarin, peru balsam, and Moroccan jasmine.
Maybe it's the hay that brought on the allergies?
I'm a simpleton when it comes to perfumes and oils. I don't like florals or fruits. I stick with musky, spicy & earthy. In fact, there are tons of scents that I just don't recognize because if it's not rose, amber, patchouli, sandalwood, vetiver, dragon's blood or an actual kitchen spice, I don't know what the fuck it is. I know gardenia only because of exposure to those little solid perfume lockets that were popular in the costume jewelry collections of my aunts. Ylang ylang? I have no clue. Jasmine? Beats me. I always imagine jasmine smells like honeysuckle, but I honestly don't know. I think balsam is either piney or medicinal. And what the fuck is 'champaca'?
So now I'm sitting here drinking seltzer trying to settle my stomach. I don't think the chicken corndog I had for lunch helped matters any.
