I have a fairly new mage - she's gone from 0 to 39 in just over 72 hours. Not record-breaking, by any means, but probably the fastest I've ever leveled a toon. Of course, w/the latest patch, Blizz reduced some of the xp costs and deleted the elite status of many of the mobs. I hate Stromgarde out in Arathi. I hate the quests involving Stromgarde. You have to run back & forth across the freakin' territory like 6 times. Now, Strom is no longer elite, which means considerably less dying in the process, but damn... they need to add more flight paths. However, normally when we leave Tarren Mill for Arathi, me & Rob's toons are right about lvl 31. Now we were around lvl 35. Normally, when we'd hit 35, it was time for Stranglethorn, which would take us up at least to lvl 42, maybe 43, & Booty Bay would lead up to 45 or so after killing a billion pirates. Now we could pretty much head right into Gadgetzan or Feralas no problem. Or, as Rob wants to do, head into the Badlands. It's ok out there, especially w/me being a miner & all... but it's not my favorite haunt in the game (mine is STV... pirates, trolls, pirates, trolls). There are too many coyotes in the Badlands. You can't throw a cat in the Badlands w/out hitting a damned coyote. Unlike real-life coyotes, the Badlands coyotes are annoying in a bad way. I am looking forward to just running out into the middle of the desert w/my mage & spamming Arcane Explosions.
I gotta tell ya, my days of DPS envy are over, folks. I love to just run into piles of mobs and blast them to death with Frost Nova & Arcane Explosions. AOE ftw, lol. I finally have a character w/satisfying DPS.
I think part of the best thing about WoW is the aspect of pure play. I can feel like an obnoxious little kid and no one really cares. I mean, I was never into video games or competitive anything when I was a kid, but I gain incredible satisfaction when I beat some Alli to a quest mob... snatch the kill right out from under them. They can curse me out all they want, all I ever see is "Bur, reg ves! Bur!" or some other gobbledygook. I also love pvp, which I have been a real weenie about in other games. It frustrates me - I have this lvl 19 twink hunter, and I get top kill scores in Warsong every time I've been in there - but Rob hates the battlegrounds. When I play w/him, it's not like I can just slink off to the BG alone & leave him out in the middle of somewhere all alone... and lately he's been up every single hour that I've been up, and home every hour that I've been home. This is the aspect of steady extra work that really sucks. I've lost all my me-time.
Dell has a special-edition laptop they're putting out for WoW... Of course, it's $4500. For a Dell. But it is a very cool Dell, I gotta give it that much. Do want. I'm hoping they'll have a contest & give one away - that would be quite teh sweetness. I'd like to get Rob a FigurePrint of his main... probably have to wait for his birfday.
