I just got a message on facebook that my friend Ann is in complete liver failure & her mom is seeking hospice care.

It's kind of funny. I don't want a drink right now.

There is seriously something fucking wrong with me. Ann is probably dying, and all I can think is, "Gee, now she won't have to worry about her student loans".

I don't know a lot about this kind of stuff, but that sounds like shock/dissociation to me and is a normal coping mechanism for this kind of stuff.

I hope your friend is okay, and that you are too. All the very best to you both.
