Rob & I had just finished dinner & started hearing a dog yelping, then screaming, in pain. There were people's voices, but we couldn't figure out what was going on. Rob got his pants on (a miracle in & of itself, because usually he just runs out in his boxers & flip-flops) & looked out the door. He muttered something about someone beating a dog with a stick & if I heard him holler, to call the cops.

I waited a few minutes, didn't hear any loud voices or anything & then Rob came back in looking for the emergency vet's number. One of our neighbors was walking his Pomeranian to the dog park and a couple of loose dogs attacked her. They started dragging her off down the street. He managed to get his dog away from them - another neighbor had come out w/a broom handle and beat the stray dogs off while the Pom's owner threw her into the bed of our next-door neighbor's pick-up truck. It was the Pom who had been yelping & screaming. She was chewed up pretty good, but not bleeding badly. No way to know if she had any broken ribs or internal injuries, though.

I took a bottle of water, hydrogen peroxide, towels & gauze out to the guy. He was just this little gay Mexican dude & his partner was still in their house passed out drunk. He had no one to really turn to, but there were about five of us all out there offering support & trying to see how badly his dog had been injured. One of the dogs had bit him, but he didn't know if it was his own or one of the strays - he's probably going to end up needing at the very least a tetanus shot.

I'm just glad for the guy that the attack had happened while he was walking the dog down the street. If he'd already been at the dog park down the road no one would have heard anything. I'm probably going to stop by his house tomorrow & make sure him & the dog are okay :)

Oh my goodness! That's insane. I hate hearing about that kind of thing, mostly because I find myself thinking... what would I do if I was in the same situation?

Why was Rob rambling about low ceilings?

I was glad I didn't decide to walk Chelsie last night. I honestly don't know how she would handle herself against aggressive dogs. Rob said they were shorter than she was, but there were two of them, so... eh, better to not have to find out.

Why was Rob rambling about low ceilings?

We're thinking of looking at some homes outside of town, in this little town called Overton. He was looking at property for sale on line. He likes vaulted ceilings, I do not because they're inefficient when it comes to A/C. One of the houses he was scoping out was gorgeous, but had low ceilings - I'm all, "oooooh!" & he's all "ewwwwww".

Saw the guys from last night - Pearl the Pomeranian is fine, minor bites, no stitches, nothing broken, no internal trauma :)

Oh thank goodness, the poor thing though, what a traumatising event. :( They're not exactly the most stable of dogs in the first place.
