Ah, the things I do when I should be reading about the properties of populations or the evolution of DRAM... Instead, I've been reading a Frommer's Guide to Washington in the bathroom, which led me to looking up Wolf Haven. They've currently got three coyotes, & this one made me smile.

Carolsal

She seems like an absolute devil. She just looks so coyote.

I wouldn't mind moving back. Don't think we'll ever be able to - but the thought is the one thing that's keeping me in school. Honestly, Las Vegas is the desert of my soul. I'm comfortable with the spirits here, but I don't spend any time with them because the city has put up this time/money barrier. I try to communicate with the ones I know well & it's like a t.v. with no reception - just snow, endless snow. Or maybe like trying to watch bad porn on a scrambled cable channel. You can tell there's something going on, but it's all out of synch & waves of color keep washing over the good bits.

Wow.Incredible, incredibly expensive, jewelry I ought to wear more of my jewelry, what little of it I have. I just hate the way my hair gets tangled up on the chains for necklaces. And I feel so Wicca 101 wearing nothing but jewelry on black silk cords. I'd like to get Rob a piece from this collection for Hallowe'en or Yule or his birthday, but he really isn't all that animalistic anymore. No more wolf or raven for him. No more lycanthropy, no more LARP, even. Just Rob being Rob, a video-game playing, anime-watching lump on the couch. I'd be better off getting him a Bleach or Cowboy Bebop collection than that enormously beautiful raven pendant. Eh, it's cheaper. He'd get more use out of it. I can get it from Amazon, not an art gallery website that I don't fully trust.

Holy CRAP! $310.00 for a silver pendant with chrysophrase?!?! WTF are these people smoking?!?!? I can only understand the whole 'You are paying for my inspiration' stuff..but DAMN..I mean that isnt even $300 worth of silver there!

Being an artist myself that wants to learn gold/silver smithing someday, I wonder if such a price hike is warranted or are they riding the whole 'This is my art and my life' line to make people pay more...I would happily pay $310 for a snakey pendant if they actually etched the scales and put a small stone for the eyes. I mean without the head on this thing, its just a long rope of silver artfully draped around a circular cabachon!

Meh..I need to stop hating..lol I want a studio of my own and the TIME to actually get all these ideas CREATED than sitting in my several notebooks.

Enough about me...I think black cord is fine. I use leather cord when I can. It feels more earthy to me than chain. I put clasps on my leather cords for a finished look. Before metal clasps were created, artisans found several interesting ways to hold their stuff together. I say do whatever works for you. :)

What's weird is that I was sitting there thinking that, ok, yeah the price is high, but if I had money to toss out the window on jewelry, I could see paying the price for some of those pieces moreso than for some diamond tennis bracelet :P Especially something like that jaguar/snake pendant. Those who can't make will pay for those who can.
Of course, I'm too busy throwing money out the window for the power to look at stuff like that on the internet to even seriously consider buying anything.

Rob's been getting books on jewelrycrafting - he wants to start making mass-market occult amulets - azuregreen.com type stuff - & selling them through e-Bay or something. When he gets bored w/the whole concept I can pass his books to ya. He's got a few of those 'Start Your Own Hobby or Craft Business' ones. I get the annoying feeling that if he ever does make anything I'm going to be the one stuck actually running the business. Blegh, I hate shipping & handling!
